4th of July, James Patterson

I read this as an e-book on my Amazon Kindle. Seems that Lindsey Boxer is quite the character! She is always stuck in the middle and finds her way out by the skin of her teeth.

3rd Degree, James Patterson

Too bad to lose a great character so early in a series. It was a shocker, and I intend to catch up with the rest of the Women's Murder Club series as soon as possible. Listened to this on CD.

Duma Key, Stephen King

The last King novel I read was Misery, right before the movie came out. I expected to be scared to death with this one, and really wasn't. I had a terrible time getting through the middle of the book, but it did pick up. I enjoyed the twists at the end, and nothing was left hanging.

Seven Up, Janet Evanovich

I had started this one quite a while back on CD at work, couldn't get into the reader's voice, and gave it up. Pulled it back out as a hardcover over Christmas thinking I'd try it again. Just getting to after the new year, I had forgotten how funny Janet Evanovich is! I finished this one in about 3 days, and actually laughed out loud at times. My cats looked at me like I had lost it since there wasn't anyone else in the house, and I found that highly amusing as well. Looking forward to catching up with the rest of the series.

The Devil's Bones, Jefferson Bass

No spoiler here, but if you've read the previous book, you'll have your socks blown off in this one. Miranda is all I'm going to say. I love the science integrated with the plot, and how the writers truly make all of it come together.

Dexter in the Dark, Jeff Lindsay

To put it simply, the tv series can do it no justice. You have to read the books! This is the most recent Dexter adventure and it delivers just like all the others. I must say that I thought it was a bit slow at the start, but once you get used to the author's writing again, you cruise right on. I love all of the characters, and am greatly anticipating the next installment.

The Book Thief, Marcus Zusak

I loved this book! Ya ya ya, everyone else has liked this one as well, but it completely consumed my attention for the 2 days it took me to read it. I borrowed it to a friend at work, and she couldn't get into it at all. Too bad.

Blasphemy, Douglas Preston

I listened to this one on CD at work as well. It was very intense to say the least. It had action, suspense, science, and religion all rolled into one. It really made me think about science and religion in another perspective.

The Black Ice, Michael Connelly

So it's been forever since I've posted, so be prepared for quite a bit of posting tonight. First off, I read this one back in January (yes, it's been that long since I've posted...) This is the second in the Harry Bosch series and I really enjoy this character. Will most definitely read the rest of the series as time allows.

Drunk, Divorced, and Covered in Cat Hair, Laurie Perry

Having been through a terrible break up once or twice, this one really hit home. The author basically walks you through her divorce, and how she gets through it. Moving, cleaning out the prior life's junk, and getting back on her feet are the main points. It was a quick read, a bit dated at this point in time, but it was nice to read about another human being going through rough times and understanding exactly where they were at mentally. She learns to knit, and eventually gets back out there.

Heaven's Prisoners, James Lee Burke

I listened to this one on CD at work. This is the second (thank you for the correction Joy!) in the Dave Robichaux series from this author. I was slightly distracted by the narrator's voice at times, but all in all, a pretty good listen/read. I really enjoy the author's descriptions of the scenery and the weather. I am looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of this series.

Interred With Their Bones, Jennifer Lee Carrell

This one took me a while to get into. It was busy from the get go, but it just didn't really catch me until about 100 pages in. A lot of the information was way over my head (the whole Shakespearean theory/history deal), so I was a bit lost at times. What on earth is a first folio? Anyway, the characters for the most part were alright, but were seriously over the top at times. This book honestly reminded me of the movie "National Treasure".

So I'm not real sure on how the whole blogging etiquette goes, so I'll do each of my review's as a single item, really since I've seen others do this as well. I am a sort of conformist at times, so bear with me...

Newbie

OK, so this is my first post to my first blog. Let's see how all of this goes. I am creating this blog in order to join the online blogging book world. It seems I am behind the times, and for the new year, I'd like to try to catch up. I've not 'officially' joined any reading challenges as of yet, but am now hoping to since I've created this wonderful blog.
